On Oct. 21st, U.S. Senate candidate and District Attorney Scott Colom held a press conference at his campaign headquarters in Jackson to discuss the sources of campaign funding for incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. During the “Pick Another Senator” news conference, Colom highlighted contributions from political action committees associated with AIPAC, defense contractors, banks and fertilizer companies. He raised concerns about the influence of special interest donors and their potential impact on costs for Mississippi families. Colom’s campaign also emphasized its reliance on individual contributions, including donations from residents across all 82 Mississippi counties and its policy of not accepting corporate PAC money. The press conference came two weeks before Election Day, as the Mississippi U.S. Senate race drew increased attention following recent campaign finance reports and an updated race rating from The Cook Political Report.
