GALLERY – The Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus hosted the Mississippi Data Center Development Information Convening at The Westin Hotel in downtown Jackson

On Sep. 15th through the 16th, The Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus hosted the Mississippi Data Center Development Information Convening at The Westin Hotel in downtown Jackson. The two day convening brought together local elected and appointed officials and others who work closely with local governments for discussions focused on data center development and the issues communities may face as these projects are considered. According to Andrew Smith, Executive Director of the Minority Supervisors Caucus, the goal was to provide local leaders with factual information so they can make informed decisions that affect their communities. Data center development has become an increasingly prominent issue across Mississippi. Projects are underway or being considered in communities throughout the state, while local officials have also been examining questions surrounding infrastructure, water and energy use, economic development, land use and community impacts. The convening provided an opportunity for local leaders to learn more about the development process and the considerations involved as Mississippi communities navigate the growth of the data center industry.
