Shower Power Urgently Seeks Meal Sponsors as Emergency Winter Shelter Opens in

Jackson — Jackson, MS

As freezing temperatures move into central Mississippi, Shower Power is urgently calling on local businesses, churches, and individuals to sponsor meals for its emergency shelter opening this weekend to protect people experiencing homelessness from dangerous winter conditions.

The shelter will serve approximately roughly 80 people per meal, providing a warm, safe place to stay during the storm. While Shower Power can offer shelter and safety, meals are entirely dependent on community support.

“When temperatures drop, hunger becomes a serious risk,” said Nick Spradley, Executive Director of Shower Power. “A hot meal is not just nourishment. It is comfort, dignity, and protection during one of the most dangerous times of year.”

Shower Power is seeking meal sponsorships to ensure breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available throughout shelter operations. A single business or group can sponsor an entire meal for 80 people, making an immediate and tangible impact.

Community members who are able to donate meals or sponsor food costs are encouraged to act quickly, as needs are immediate and time-sensitive.

“Our friends are counting on us,” Spradley added. “This is how Jackson takes care of its own.”For questions from the media, information on sponsoring a meal, or supporting the shelter, contact Teresa Renkenberger or Nick Spradley at showerpower.ms@icloud.com or by calling 901-499-8099.
