JACKSON, MS — Mayor John Horhn is urging eligible Jackson homeowners to act now and apply for the Mississippi Homeowner Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Program (HRRP), a federally funded program administered by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) to help low- and moderate-income homeowners whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the April 8-11, 2024 tornadoes and straight-line winds. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2026.

“Many Jackson families are still working to recover from these devastating storms, and this program can provide critical help to rebuild what was lost,” Mayor Horhn said. “I encourage every eligible homeowner to apply before the deadline and take advantage of this opportunity for support.”

Who May Qualify

According to the Mississippi Housing Recovery website, applicants must have unrepaired home damage from the qualifying storms, own and live in the home as their primary residence, currently own the property, and have household income at or below 80% of the HUD Area Median Income. The program applies to properties located in Hinds County, among other eligible locations.

How to Apply

Homeowners can apply online, by phone, or in person through Mississippi Housing Recovery. The website states that applicants should be prepared to provide proof of identity, citizenship, income, ownership, primary residency, insurance coverage, disaster assistance received, and current property tax status, along with any additional documentation that may be required.
