City Council honors hometown heroes – Serenity R. Moore
RESOLUTION OF THE JACKSON CITY COUNCIL HONORING SERENITY R. MOORE FOR HER OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND SERVICE AS MISS JUNETEENTH MISSISSIPPI 2025–2026.

WHEREAS, Serenity R. Moore, a sophomore at Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi, has distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership, athletic achievement, community service, and civic engagement; and
WHEREAS, Serenity maintains an outstanding 4.0 GPA while actively participating in volleyball, soccer, track and field, JROTC, Speech and Debate, Art Club, Choir, and Student Council, where she serves as Sophomore Class Vice President; and
WHEREAS, Serenity demonstrated extraordinary resilience after suffering a serious injury during a soccer game that required emergency surgery and extensive physical therapy, yet she persevered and maintained her exemplary academic performance; and
WHEREAS, Serenity made school history by becoming the first student from Forest Hill High School to win First Place in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Speech and Debate Championship; and
WHEREAS, throughout her educational journey, Serenity has earned numerous honors and recognitions, including Student of the Month, Highest GPA awards, Rookie of the Year in Soccer, District Reading Fair Champion, Female Athlete of the Year, and multiple academic honors; and
WHEREAS, Serenity has demonstrated exceptional leadership through service as Youth Representative on the Central United Methodist Church Council, Student Council Vice President, athletic team captain, and mentor to younger students; and
WHEREAS, Serenity’s commitment to community service is reflected through volunteer work supporting literacy programs, homeless outreach, youth initiatives, scholarship fundraising, health awareness campaigns, food and school supply drives, and numerous charitable organizations throughout the City of Jackson and the State of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Serenity’s selection as Miss Juneteenth Mississippi 2025–2026 recognizes her dedication to education, leadership, service, cultural awareness, and inspiring young people to achieve excellence.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Councilwoman Lashia Brown do hereby commends and congratulates Serenity R. Moore for her exceptional accomplishments and service as Miss Juneteenth Mississippi 2025–2026, and extends its sincere appreciation for the positive example she sets for the youth of Jackson and the State of Mississippi.
