City Council honors hometown heroes – Captain Mark Hodges
RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING CAPTAIN MARK HODGES UPON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTY-SIX (36) YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Captain Mark Hodges has dedicated thirty-six (36) years of exemplary service to the profession of law enforcement and to the citizens of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Captain Hodges began his law enforcement career with the Lexington Police Department in 1989, where he faithfully served until 2001, before joining the Jackson Police Department in 2001; and
WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Captain Hodges served with honor, integrity, and professionalism in numerous assignments, including Patrol Operations, SWAT, Traffic Operations, and other specialized law enforcement functions, consistently demonstrating exceptional leadership and commitment to public safety; and
WHEREAS, Captain Hodges most recently served as Commander of the Traffic Operations Division of the Jackson Police Department, where he provided leadership and oversight for motorcycle enforcement, DUI enforcement, special event traffic management, school crossing guard operations, park ranger services, and citywide traffic safety initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Captain Hodges earned national recognition as a certified Police Motorcycle Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and law enforcement trainer, sharing his expertise with officers from agencies throughout Mississippi and across the United States, thereby enhancing the professionalism and effectiveness of law enforcement personnel nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Captain Hodges has been widely respected for his unwavering commitment to public safety, his dedication to mentoring and developing future law enforcement leaders, and his steadfast service to the community; and
WHEREAS, his leadership, knowledge, and guidance have positively influenced countless officers, strengthened public trust, and contributed significantly to the safety and well being of the residents and visitors of the City of Jackson; and
WHEREAS, Captain Hodges leaves behind a lasting legacy of excellence, professionalism, mentorship, and public service that will continue to benefit the Jackson Police Department and the community for years to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Jackson, Mississippi, does hereby honor, commend, and congratulate Captain Mark Hodges upon his retirement from the Jackson Police Department after thirty-six (36) years of distinguished law enforcement service.
