Canton Public Schools and Amazon celebrated the launch of Amazon Think Big Corners at four elementary schools in the district, creating innovative spaces where students can explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through hands-on learning experiences.

The Amazon Think Big Corners are dedicated learning environments equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment, including 3D printers, coding materials, and other resources that enable students to build, experiment, and invent. These minilabs provide educators and students with opportunities to engage in interactive STEM activities that foster creativity and problem-solving skills.

The Canton Public School District launched four Amazon Think Big Corners, with ribbon-cutting ceremonies held at Canton Elementary School (Feb. 24), Jimmie M. Goodloe Elementary School (Feb. 24), McNeal Elementary School (Feb. 25), and Reuben B. Myers Elementary School (Feb. 25).

“The Canton Public School District is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Amazon, which aims to significantly enhance our scholars’ experience through engaging and interactive STEM education. This collaboration underscores CPSD’s unwavering commitment to equipping our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive as future leaders in technology innovation and various STEM fields. Through initiatives like this, we aim to cultivate students who are not only adept analytical thinkers but also self-directed lifelong learners and effective communicators. Such partnerships are crucial in helping us fulfill our mission of preparing students for the next stages of their education or for entering the global workforce. Ultimately, we strive to empower our scholars to become responsible citizens who are actively engaged in society,” said Dwight J. Luckett Sr., Superintendent of Canton Public Schools.

“These Think Big Corners represent our collective commitment to nurturing STEM education and innovation in the City of Canton and beyond,” said Afrika Alsup, Community Engagement Manager, Amazon. “By joining forces with Canton Public Schools, we’re creating spaces that empower educators and inspire students, ensuring that all young learners have access to cutting-edge tools and hands-on experiences that will shape the innovators of tomorrow.”

With the world becoming increasingly digital, STEM-based education is more important than ever. Amazon has made it a priority to help create the next generation of creative thinkers and future builders in the communities where the company has a presence, with efforts aimed at providing equitable STEM education and welcoming all learners, including those who have long been underrepresented in STEM fields.

The Think Big Corners provide a place beyond the traditional classroom for students to explore and cultivate an interest in STEM-related careers. These minilabs encourage a hands-on approach where students think big to solve real-world problems.
