The Canton Career Center hosted its inaugural Manufacturing Day on Monday, November 3, 2025, celebrating innovation and craftsmanship under the inspiring theme, “Crafting the future with one product at a time.”

The day started with a professional development session featuring Victor Taylor, Vice President of Manufacturing at Nissan North America in Canton, MS. He emphasized the importance of communication, teamwork, and leadership to the faculty of Canton Career Center. The faculty was attentive and offered positive feedback.

The main event was a program led by the Homecoming Royal Court of Canton Career Center. Taylor served as the keynote speaker. He engaged in an open discussion with the scholars, who stayed highly involved.

Taylor’s staff, Delorise Love, and Ms. Lindsey, accompanied him. Also present were Interim Superintendent Dwight Luckett, Canton Mayor Timothy Scott Taylor, and his staff member Kenny Wayne Jones. Claude Alexander, a proud supporter and Allstate Insurance Agent, also attended.

A reception followed, featuring Chick-fil-A lunch boxes. The event was organized by a committee led by Janiece Austin from the Exceptional Education Department; Michael Ellis, Director of Canton Career Center; Dr. Leandra Lowery, Canton Educational Services teacher; and Fredricka Rivers from Canton High School.

Scholars, faculty, staff from the Canton Public School District; Taylor and his team; and community members enjoyed the program. Afterwards, the committee decided to make this an annual tradition.

All attending scholars were delighted to receive a stylish Nissan swag bag, graciously provided by Taylor. Participants, guests, faculty members, and staff members also received a formal certificate from Austin as a token of appreciation. The highlight of the event was a heartfelt presentation by Austin to Taylor, celebrating CCC’s gratitude for his inspiring visit.
