Burdean Isaac Womack
Burdean Isaac Womack transitioned March 8, 2026, at her daughter’s Jackson home surrounded by family members. She was 90. A Family Hour will be held Friday, Mar. 20, 5-7 p.m., at Westhaven Funeral Home (Hazlehurst Branch), 19068 Highway 51, Hazlehurst, MS. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Mar. 21, 2026, 11 a.m., at Clear Creek MB Church #1, 1001 Clear Creek Road, Gallman, MS; Repast, Ministerial Alliance Christian Center, 17160 Highway 51, Hazlehurst, MS.
Burdean was the oldest child born on May 24, 1935, to the late Monroe and Lillie Mae Ellis Isaac.
She joined Clear Creek Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member. Her daughters later moved her to Jackson, Mississippi, to provide quality care for her. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church Usher Board, the Missionary Board, the Senior Choir, and Golden Wreath Chapter #88 Order of the Eastern Star where she held the position of Chapter Treasurer. She was an active member of the Heroines of Jericho, J.C. Gilliam Court #442.
Burdean was educated in the Hazlehurst School District and Copiah and Lincoln Junior College. She worked for Sanderson Farms, Edward & Hyman Shirt Factory and Adolph Lafont Shirt Factory, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 361G as Union President until she retired.
She loved reading her Bible, completing word puzzle books, cookouts at her home for the family, friends and serving the community. She was a constant favorite at family cookouts.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four sons: James, Donald Ray, Kelvin, and Darryl; one daughter: Barbara; a granddaughter: Ayanna; sister: Jinette; and brother: Robert Gene.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Burnette (Richard) Brown-Smith and Sherry Isaac Powell; one son: Billy Ray Isaac; 25 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; a special niece and nephew: Sylvia and Roger; and her community children: Mickey, Charles Ray, Cynthia, and Dwight.
