JANS – Jackson resident Asa McPherson Ware and Top Gun Large Coed Cheer Team of Miami, Florida, won gold medals in their division of the 2024 World’s Cheer Championship. The event was held April 26-29 in Orlando, FL at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Besides their gold medal, Top Gun also won the World’s Grand Gold Championship for 2024 with the highest overall score of all competitor teams.
Ware is an exceptional athlete and renown tumbler who has been recruited, trained, and competed as a tumbler of cheer teams in Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Florida over the past 10 years. The 17-year-old attended Jackson Public Schools, Mississippi homeschooling, and studied at various schools across the nation. He received his high school diploma in October 2023 and is looking forward to enrolling in college in the fall of 2024.
Asa is the son of Dr. David and Dr. Nikisha Green Ware. He is the younger brother of Solomon Ware who just completed his first year of college. Asa is also the grandson of retired Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Tomie Green.
Asa Ware’s story is one of a true champion. It’s GOOD NEWS and should inspire young athletes everywhere. His Gold and Grand World Championship is likely historic for Mississippi. Asa has previously won two Bronze World Cheer Championships with Twist and Shout Diamonds Team of Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as a number of nationals, majors, and triple crown awards.
