Are you washing your face too much?
JANS – Failing to wash your face regularly – even if just a quick splash of water – can cause many skin problems. Every individual should wash their face both morning and night.
If you have dry or sensitive skin, washing the face twice a day may prove to be aggravating. Cleanse correctly at night using a gentle formula and rinse with warm water in the morning. Hydrating cleansers are good choices for people with dry skin. Oil-based cleansers or ones with thicker consistencies should also be assessed.
For oily or acne-probe skin, there’s no need to wash your face more than twice a day. Doing so may dry out your skin. Opt for a cleanser containing hydroxy acids to remove excess oil if you fall into this category.
Medicated cleansers are also worth your awareness.
Makeup wearers should cleanse their faces in the morning, followed by a more comprehensive cleanse at night. Either remove makeup before using a cleanser or double cleanse to ensure all traces are gone. Use an oil-based cleanser for a hygienic, non-irritating feel.
And for exercisers: Try oil-free wipes if you’re out and about and don’t have a cleanser on hand. They’re excellent for cleansing the skin and extracting sweat and dirt until you can shower and wash again.
