An Encouraging Word from Pastor Herb
‘God Will Get You To Your Destiny’
Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Introduction:
Are you where you thought you would be at this point in your life? We make plans, we get an education, and we put our plan into action. Then, just when we seem to be making progress, the unexpected happens. That’s when you begin to feel like your life is out of control. Everything seemed to be going right, then out of nowhere, everything seems to be going wrong. It’s one bad break after another. Your life appears to be out of control. That’s when you have to realize that the setbacks that you experience are not by accident. It’s all part of God’s plan. You are right where God wants you to be right now. If God got you to your destiny before you were ready, you wouldn’t appreciate it. And, if He got you there too fast, your success wouldn’t last. No matter where you are, or what you’re going through right now, I assure you that “God Will Get You To Your Destiny!”
In the text that we’re looking at today, God was speaking directly to the nation of Israel. He was assuring them that in spite of their setbacks, He would still get them to their destiny.
The Israelites were in exile because of their sin and unbelief. Their future seemed uncertain. They were being threatened by the surrounding nations, and they began to feel like God had abandoned them. Have you ever felt that way? The Israelites had to learn what I want you to learn today, and that is simply this: No matter where you are right now, no matter what you’re going through, or what you’re facing, God is still in control and He will get you to your destiny. Why do I say that?
I. God Is On Your Side:
Our text begins by saying, “Fear not, for I am with you.” God was saying to the nation of Israel, you are not alone. You are not going through this exile by yourself. And God is saying the same thing to His children today. God is on your side. You are not facing your difficulties by yourself. You are not going through your storm alone. You’re not fighting your battles by yourself. God is for you, and if God be for you, who can be against you? You will reach your destiny because God is on your side.
II. God Is In Control:
After promising to be with them, God reminds the Israelites that He is still in control. He says, “I am your God.” You may be surrounded by nations that worship idols. You may be surrounded by nations that don’t know the true and living God. You may be away from the temple, and you may be out of your homeland, but you are still not out of God’s presence. David said it this way, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there. If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me.” If you don’t remember anything else I say today, please remember this: No matter where you are, God is there with you. No matter how much things seem to be out of control, God is still in control, and He will get you to your destiny!
III. God Is Supporting You:
In our text, God promises to strengthen you. God promises to help you. And God promises to uphold you. In other words, when you need strength for your journey, God will strengthen you. When you need help in your battles, God will help you. And when you feel like giving up, throwing in the towel, or walking away, God promises to uphold you and keep you going. Today you may feel like your life is off track, out of control, or going nowhere, but I want to assure you that God is on your side! God is in control! And God will support you until He gets you to your destiny!
