JANS – Holmes County Central High School students Aaron Davis Jr. and Kaden Patterson are the recipients of the inaugural Representative Robert G. and Mrs. Jo Ann Clark Academic Scholarship established by the Jackson State University National Alumni Association (JSUNAA) Holmes County Chapter. Both students will attend JSU in the Fall.

The presentation took place during the school’s baccalaureate service in May, celebrating the achievements of outstanding students who exemplify the values of academic excellence and leadership.

The newly named scholarship recognizes the Clarks’ enduring commitment to education, mentorship, and community service. The late Robert G. Clark Jr., a trailblazing leader and the first African American elected to the Mississippi Legislature since Reconstruction, played a pivotal role in shaping the chapter’s growth and influence. Alongside his wife, Jo Ann, he mentored and inspired members, emphasizing the importance of expanding the chapter’s reach and impact. Their dedication to education and leadership development left an indelible mark on Holmes County and the JSUNAA community.

“This renaming is a testament to Representative and Mrs. Clark’s unwavering support for education and their lasting influence on our chapter,” said Jamye Horton, JSUNAA-Holmes County Chapter President. “We are honored to continue their legacy by supporting the next generation of scholars at Jackson State University.”
