JPS leader appointed to AMTESOL Board for South Mississippi

JANS – Patrice W. Razor, Ed.S., Director of English Learners and Special Populations for Jackson Public Schools, has been selected to serve as the PK–12 South Mississippi Board Member for AMTESOL (Alabama-Mississippi Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) for the 2024–2025 term.

AMTESOL is a regional organization dedicated to strengthening English language education across Alabama and Mississippi. Its mission includes providing professional development opportunities for ESL educators, promoting effective instructional practices, advocating for the needs of English learners and their teachers, and fostering collaboration among educators, researchers, and stakeholders in the TESOL community.

In her leadership role, Razor will support initiatives that align with the mission of Jackson Public Schools – to develop scholars through world-class learning experiences grounded in leadership, character, and service. Her involvement with AMTESOL will create expanded opportunities for JPS by connecting the district with research-based strategies, regional networks, and educator support systems that enhance instructional practices and outcomes for English learners.

Razor’s service reflects her unwavering commitment to educational excellence and equity and brings meaningful recognition to the impactful work of Jackson Public Schools at the regional level.
