Mt. Center M.B. Church to celebrate Pastor Jenkin’s 40th anniversary

JANS – Rev. Rickey D. Jenkins Sr. has served as the Pastor of Mt. Center Missionary Baptist Church in Flora, MS, for four decades. Under his leadership, countless lives have been touched, souls have been encouraged, and the church has continued to grow spiritually in the service to God. 

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., family, friends, and the church community will gather to celebrate his faithful preaching, dedicated tutelage, and outstanding service in the Kingdom of God. The guest speaker for this special occasion will be Pastor Jessie Horton of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. 

Pastor Jenkins is a native of Pearl, MS. His parents, the late Pearlina Jenkins and Herrie Jenkins Sr., provided a strong Christian foundation that was reinforced at Mt. Elam Missionary Baptist Church and a family of ministers, who helped shape his passion for serving God.

At the age of 22, in 1983, Pastor Jenkins answered the call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Since then, he has faithfully dedicated his life to imparting Christian principles and values to his congregation and the larger community.

Pastor Jenkins received his education from Pearl High School, graduating in 1978, and furthered his studies at Utica Junior College in 1980, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics. Continuing his educational journey, Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Jackson State University in 2002. 

He later attended Mississippi College where he pursued studies in Christian education earning a B.S. degree in Christian Studies. This was coupled with theological training through studies at Mississippi Baptist Seminary and Reformed Theological Seminary.

Pastor Jenkins is a devoted father, father-in-law, and the proud grandfather of four, as well as a mentor and servant leader who continues to inspire generations through his commitment to ministry, family and community.
