JPS high school scholars honored for academic excellence

JANS – Jackson Public Schools (JPS) celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of scholars from across all six JPS high schools – Callaway, Forest Hill, Jim Hill, Lanier, Murrah, and Provine – October 24, 2025, at Forest Hill High School. 

The High School Network Awards Celebration recognized students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in the classroom, including those who achieved perfect scores on the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP). The MAAP measures student proficiency in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.

The ceremony highlighted the dedication, hard work, and academic success of JPS scholars, as well as the commitment of the educators who help them reach their full potential. Laketia Marshall-Thomas, Assistant Superintendent for the High School Network, and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Michael Cormack Jr. were in attendance to honor the students’ accomplishments
