MMSA to hold 120th Scientific Assembly
JANS – The Mississippi Medical and Surgical Association (MMSA) will hold its 120th Scientific Assembly as part of the Magnolia State Professional’s Conference June 20-21, 2025, in Baton Rouge, LA. MMSA is the state’s oldest and largest organization representing African American physicians and health professions in Mississippi. Established in 1900, the MMSA is the collective voice of African American physicians and the patients they serve.
According to Vernon Rayford, MD, President of MMSA, “This assembly will provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians from a variety of specialties and subspecialties working throughout the state of Mississippi and Louisiana. We will have speakers focusing on a variety of topics including Kidney Disease, Obesity, Diabetes, Health Impacts of Climate Change, and Medical Education.”
Joining this year’s conversations will be medical students and resident physicians from programs in Mississippi and Louisiana.
As part of the larger Magnolia State Professionals Conference there will be joint programming with the Magnolia Pharmaceutical State Association and the Mississippi Dental Society, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
