Rust College names Dr. Jacqueline G. Powell Interim Vice President for  Academic Affairs

JANS – Rust College has appointed Dr. Jacqueline G. Powell as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs. 

A seasoned higher education executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience, Dr. Powell brings extensive expertise in academic administration, strategic planning, organizational development, and student success. Throughout her career, she has served in executive leadership positions, including college presidencies and senior academic affairs roles, where she successfully led institutional transformation, academic innovation, and community engagement initiatives. 

In her interim role, Dr. Powell will oversee the College’s academic programs, faculty affairs, curriculum development, assessment, and institutional effectiveness efforts while supporting Rust College’s mission of academic excellence and student achievement. 

“Dr. Powell’s depth of experience, visionary leadership, and commitment to student success make her an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” said Dr. Johnny M. Moore, President of Rust College.

Dr. Powell holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Texas A&M University – Commerce, a Master of Arts in Education from Texas A&M University – Commerce, a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Texas A&M University.
