Musical Expressions Experience receives Mississippi Arts Commission grant

JANS – Musical Expressions Experience (MEE), a nonprofit arts organization based in Jackson, Mississippi, has received a $3,925 grant award from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC). This grant is part of more than $1.7 million in grants awarded by MAC during fiscal year 2027 and will support MEE’s arts education programming, including music instruction, creative enrichment, and performance opportunities for youth throughout the Jackson community. 

Founded by Chelsea Young, MEE is committed to empowering youth through music education, creativity, literacy, and performance. Through programs such as the Bucket Drumming Experience, Rhythm & Divine Youth Drumline, private music instruction, and community performances, MEE provides opportunities for students to develop musical skills, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and artistic expression. 

“This grant is an incredible blessing for our organization and the families we serve,” said Young. “The support from the Mississippi Arts Commission allows us to continue providing meaningful music education experiences while creating opportunities for young people to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong skills through the arts. We are grateful for MAC’s investment in our mission and in the future of Mississippi’s youth.”

Funding for MAC’s grants comes from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Mississippi State Legislature.
