Adedara honored by national family physician organization

JANS – Dr. Charles Adedara, a resident in the University of Mississippi Medical Center Department of Family Medicine, has the 2026 Award for Excellence in Graduate Education by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The AAFP’s commission on membership and member services recognizes the leadership, civic involvement, patient care, and dedication to family medicine when bestowing the award.

“We are incredibly proud and excited to see Dr. Adedara receive this national recognition,” said Dr. Shannon Pittman Moore, chair of the Department of Family Medicine. “This award reflects not only his commitment to excellence in patient care and family medicine, but also his leadership, service to others, and dedication to the communities we serve. Recognition at the national level is a tremendous accomplishment and a wonderful reflection of the impact our residents are making in Mississippi and beyond.”

Winners receive a $2,500 scholarship from the organization and are honored at its annual Family Medicine Experience conference.
