As we celebrate 86 years of continuous publication, we pause to thank our subscribers, avid readers, advertisers, grantors, partners, and supporters for demonstrating the importance of the Black Press, particularly in Mississippi.

I’m happy to report the future of the Jackson Advocate is full of excitement! Hopefully, in the coming months, the advances in technology and staffing will be noticeable and welcomed. DeAnna and her team are committed to providing you with award-winning journalism and exemplary community support.

The Jackson Advocate wasn’t established in 1938 to operate solely as a business. Since its founding, with the exception of a few years during the turbulent 1960s, the Jackson Advocate has presented itself as an institution connected to the community.

Over the next 12 months, our goal is to build on existing partnerships and create new ones, as well as develop an organizational framework to improve on our delivery of service. It’s just good knowing we’ve made the right moves to position the newspaper to fully participate in a very competitive market.

Although there is a need to increase our subscriber base and number of advertisers, God has not brought us this far to leave us. We will continue to document the progress of our community to ensure our youth have a better today as well as a brighter tomorrow.
