JANS – The Jackson (Hinds) Branch of the NAACP announces its 96th Annual Freedom Fund Awards and Scholarship Banquet is scheduled to take place on Sat., July 27, 2024, commencing at 6 p.m. The distinguished event will be hosted at the historic M.W. Stringer Masonic Lodge, located at 1072 J.R. Lynch Street, Jackson. 

This year’s banquet, themed “Making Our Vote Count,” aligns with the critical juncture of the upcoming Presidential Election in 2024. As the nation navigates pivotal political landscapes, the NAACP underscores the importance of civic engagement and the empowerment of communities through voting rights. 

Keynote speaker for the evening is the esteemed Pamela D.C. Junior, former director of Two Mississippi Museums. Hailing from Jackson, MS, Junior brings a fervent dedication to bridging historical narratives with contemporary challenges. 

The annual banquet serves as a platform to honor outstanding individuals for their exemplary service to Jackson and unwavering support of the Jackson (Hinds) NAACP Branch. Furthermore, the event serves as an occasion to award scholarships to deserving graduating seniors from Jackson Public Schools. These scholarships not only recognize academic achievement but also nurture future leaders committed to social justice and community betterment.
